Hello

I have just joined this forum today ( August 31st )

I have never met Jamie McIntrye in person nor have I ever met Mr Neil Jenman.

I read the arguments by both parties above and concluded that Jamies arguments were far more coherent and logical and that Mr Jenman's were embarrasingly vitriolic and so personal that I felt as though Mr Jenman had an agenda.

Mr Jenman I have noticed, has made a career of belittling others especially within his own industry so I am tempted to think that if he dislikes Mr McIntyre so patently, then I am already more naturally in favour of Jamie for that reason alone.

I am not in possession of all the facts but I do know a witch hunt when I see one. It would appear that Jamie has rustled big feathers and if he has contravened any laws............, that does not tell me anything much more than that.......... the law is an ass.

Incredibly ASIC turn a blind eye each and every day to the legalised theft perpetrated on thousands of battlers by the major banks

Further, how prepostrous it is, that these days one can't even tell someone to put money in a piggybank.......... unless one has the right piece of paper.

I will be taking up a 21st education the first opportunity I get.....keep up the good work all at 21C. -------

-Hi i emailed you earlier asking what ASIC's alligations were all about. I have just read Jamie McIntyre's and 21st Century responses and these answer my questions. It appears that Jamie's success coupled with allegations of a possibly bitter and jealous former financial controller have combined with a careless ASIC to make false allegations. I feel very sorry that someone who has done so much to help improve people's standard of living in Australia (the land of not many such tall poppies) has been put in this position.-------

Hi Everyone,

Depending on how new you are to this Forum, you may or may not remember me from the time I was posting here fairly regularly about 9 months ago. I still visit this Forum quite often, but mainly just to read what is being said as I've become a lot busier now-a-days with other projects I have taken on...

I've always believed in open communication and found that I am most attracted to those people that genuinely speak from the heart... It can take a lot of courage to be completely open and truthful with others, especially if you're talking about something in your life that you're not exactly proud of.

One thing that I have definitely noticed lately, is that many of you seem to be holding back and actually appear almost "scared" to say too much about your own investment experiences and what you have learnt along the way so far.

This is where ASIC comes into the equation... My understanding is that they have a big problem with people speaking openly about specific investment experiences, especially if it is deemed as advice. I can only assume that they think they are doing everyone some form of wonderful service by acting as a filter between you and whatever information could be readily available to you. But I personally have a problem with this. Here's why:

I'm an Adult! I was always under the impression that being an Adult had some special privileges/conditions, such as being able to make my own decisions and indeed being held fully accountable for whatever decisions I would make. Being a responsible Adult, this means I use my own judgement to think about the consequences of something I'm considering before I actually do it. For example, we all know if we drink alcohol and then drive a car, we are likely to have impaired judgement and may end up in trouble with the law (not to mention we are at an increased risk of injuring (or worse) ourselves and/or other innocent people).

I also realise that if I watch a movie that shows the process involved with kidnapping someone and holding them for ransom, then there are consequences if I should choose to do this myself in real-life. I also have realised that if I eat too much unhealthy food this can have an impact on my health and well-being.

So, being an Adult has proven extremely fascinating - it's now totally upto me to accept the consequences of whatever I might choose to do in my life, rather than blaming a parent, school teacher, brother, sister or indeed anyone else for that matter.

You know, as an Adult it didn't take me too long to figure out that if I spent my money on something without firstly doing a sensible amount of research, then I might end up being disappointed (or possibly on rare occasions I could end up pleasantly surprised!). Given the choice, though, I much prefer to plan carefully before committing a significant amount of money to anything.

It is completely my choice if I want to buy a Lottery Ticket, or go to a Casino and bet on a game of Roulette for example. Could I lose money in doing these things? Absolutely! Would ASIC step in to try to "save me" if lost money on these things? I certainly don't remember seeing them standing in newsagents or at the entry to a Casino trying to tell people that statistically they are likely to lose money. (Perhaps the government makes too much money from people "gambling" to want to stop them from doing it??) Hmmmm...

Yet, when it comes to someone offering to share their real-life experience with me as to what has worked for them financially, it seems this is suddenly some kind of crime!? The innocent consumer must now be saved: ASIC to the rescue!!

What a load of rubbish this is!!!

Aren't we all Adult enough to judge if furthering our education in an area of our choosing is something worthwhile? Furthermore, if this additional education is offered with a money-back guarantee, then surely this is more than reasonable?! (Of course if the guarantee is not fully supported, then yes please I would be happy for help from someone like ASIC). Please ASIC, how about allowing me to enjoy one of my privileges of being an Adult?? I want to hear about what's out there and available for me. If I want to spend some money on something I find interesting, surely that is my choice to make?

So what's really going on here? Do scams exist which rip people off? Yes, absolutely! But who is to blame? Is it the creator of the scam? Or is it the "innocent" person who participates in it? Is it BOTH? Or does it even matter???

I acknowledge that there is definitely risk involved in investing. But there is a risk in one way or another with everything in life. Even just eating a meal is taking a risk of food poisoning, choking or becoming obese.

Is the answer to avoid all risk...? I can only see that as leading to a very empty life. Let's look to nature... Do animals take risks, as a part of their existance? There is a natural instinct to grow, learn and definitely take chances as necessary to allow their species to continue to exist. Animals don't go extinct by just "giving up" after figuring out that there's too much risk due to predators, or their food mightn't be worth the effort in chasing anymore, or whatever other odds they may have to overcome. They try, they try, and they try! And then they try some more, for as long as they remain alive. I see a great lesson in that!!

So what is my point exactly?

Well, I remember this little saying, "The truth will set you free". It's worked very well for me and I believe in it fully. I've become a much more successful and happier person since hearing the truth that others have been willing to share with me. Whether it's been through reading their books, going to seminars, listening to audio CD's or watching their Videos/DVD's, what I have learnt has become invaluable in helping me expand what I thought was possible and become who I am today.

Sure, I've wasted some money along the way... But it's all been useful to me in one way or another. And the only reason I can say this for sure is because I have taken complete responsibility for all of my actions. I do not blame anyone else, or anything, for what I choose in life. Life has given me many valuable lessons, and it is in accepting them as what I have needed at the time, rather than whinging and complaining, that I have been able to continue to move forward and avoid being stuck in a rut.

So perhaps I should conclude by leaving you with this question to consider:

Do you take responsibility for each and every one of your decisions and actions?

  • If you do, then you'll realise that a governing body such as ASIC is probably hindering you more than it's helping you.
  • If you don't, then you'll see a valid need for ASIC and the "protection" they provide.
It's upto you what you personally decide, but I sure know that my life became better and better once I took full responsibility for every single aspect of it...

P.S. I have not personally done Jamie McIntyre's Home Study course, but I have learnt enough to know that depending on your answer to the question I asked you just above, this will determine how likely you are to benefit by it (or indeed any other information you may find relating to investing). ------
